Elevator Pitch

Hi Professor Oakes! I've recently started to do some research into operating systems and how easy they are to be used by the public. I've been deciding whether or not to turn my research into an ACURA project and would like you to be apart of this project. I hope you can join me in my project here at school.

PB1B- Inspecting Genre Generators

Genre generators are everywhere. Either online or in real life. Anything you can think of is in some way a genre. Having access to different resources can help you find different genre generators. Genre generator can consist of memes to story generators. The first genre generator is a comic strip website. Comics now in days don't really target the current teenage age group but, they target our parents. We usually don't find comic humor funny but corny. Our parents on the other hand find comic humor entertaining and funny. As one comic strip consist of a guy named Skip who has bad dreams and urinates himself in bed. This comic does show parent humor or humor that targets younger kids as well. Comic strips can also be political. For example, on the website is a short comic strip about President Bush. The one character comes in saying that Bush won the Presidency. The other character comes in not knowing what to say but they both end up making it sound like they don't like th

PB1A-Bumper Stickers

As I'm staring at the car in front of me I can't take my eyes off the bumper sticker on their car. I don't know what it is about it but, it keeps my attention. Bumper stickers is a large textual genre that we all see on a daily bases. Bumper stickers if you don't know are a type of "art" that people find passion in and put them all over their cars. People love putting bumper stickers on their cars to express themselves. For example, people put political candidates' bumper stickers on their cars. Like Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. People love expressing their political views through bumper stickers. People also love expressing their love for other things through bumper stickers as well. Whether it's their religion, nationalism or an certain organization (ex. Salvation Army). There are people who also use bumper stickers to show off to people. For example, at certain schools, when a student receives honor roll status, their family receives a bumper st

Different Types of Annotation I make when reading

When I'm usually reading an article, I like to make a couple different types of annotations. The different types of annotations I like to use are underlining important pieces of the text. Underlining important pieces of text is one of the most simplest forms of annotating. I liked to use this because it helps me pin point certain parts of the article. The next form of annotation I use is circling important words. Circling important words help me understand that the section that word is in might be an important section. The last two types of annotation I like to do work off each other. These two are summarizing what I thought the author is writing and what that the text means to me in my own words.   Other people told me their types of annotating. Writing down in the margins if they agree or disagree with the author. Starring different sections on things he finds interesting. Try to relate the article to the real world. Note when the author repeats certain information. Noting rhe
